Heart failure is probably not with the PDA and compared to a completely different question. If the patient had an epidural, I assume that surgery and heart failure can be exacerbated by surgery because of rapid fluid still. Lidocaine and bupivacaine can result in a decrease in blood pressure (hypotension) and cardiac arrhythmias in excessive doses. Heart rhythm disturbances can cause heart failure, but the patient is likely to occur other signs of toxicity, such as neurological symptoms. In addition, if no response is due to the dose tested, it is unlikely that they are the result of improper placement of the probe.

Never heard heart failure is a side effect of epidural anesthesia. Low BP, yes. Heart failure, no.
